Skyeboy New Toys

Just picked up all my new toys and they look SICK! I am like a kid at
Christmas! I have all 3 of the new Wave Cults, 92, 83 and 75. I think
those will be my main boards for the UK, Canaries and all the comps.
Then I also have the 84 and 76 Hardcore Wave Cult, which are the more
rockered pure riding boards. These will be the weapons for those rare
proper riding days, like Maui or Cape Verde. My new Super Style
MkIII's look sweet too. Bit more power than last years, which I prefer
for all conditions, onshore and side shore. Plus I finally have the
SUP that I have been waiting 6 months for. Its the 9'6 Diamond tail
Ltd edition. It looks beautiful, and I already rode it in Maui so I
know it works as good as it looks! Now all I need is some wind, or
waves... or both!

Kenneth Danielsen ready to rock'n'roll

Kenneth Danielsen before Kia Cold Hawaii PWA world cup.

The world cup here in Klitmøller is soon to begin, and in 2 weeks time
all the best windsurfers in the world is gathered here for the first
ever PWA world cup on danish ground.
The last couple of weeks provided some good conditions here in
Klitmøller. I have been sailing as many days as possible on the "Reef"
where the contest takes place, to be as well prepared as possible.
But this thursday we got a classic day in Hanstholm. It doesn't get
any better than this in my opinion. Wind between 3.7 and 4.0 and
around 2-4 meter waves. I got a day of from the "reef " and sailed the
whole day in Hanstholm, which provided some epic conditions.

Skyeboy @ Vargas Championship
Every year around this time Marcos Perez organises a competition at
Vargas. The emphasis is on fun and it includes a kite contest, wave
contest and long distance race. The waves is left to the local guys
and was won this year by little Animal rider Alesio. The race however
was open and it ended up being a neck and neck fight the whole way
around with Philip. We were pretty even and I should have beaten him
to the upwind point, but I missed the layline by a few metres and had
to put in 2 extra tacks. That gave him an extra hundred metres on me,
which in the end was what counted. I caught him back up and over took
him down wind, but it all came down to a drag race over the last 500
metres. I dont think I have ever been so fast on my wave board, but
unfortunately it wasn't fast enough and I couldn't hold him off. In
the end after 22 minutes of racing we finished about 2 metres apart.
He is getting a bit good at winning at the moment!!! Anyway the whole
weekend was really fun including a good party and my first night
sleeping in the new van conversion. Back to the UK next week, so have
1 more week to enjoy the constant wind! Thanks to Mario and Maria for
the photos.

Seb: Report Tenerife = Update

Hi All.
The wind is blowing crazy here in Tenerife. 40 - 50 knots !
I did a new hight record yesterday to 52 feets hight with the shadowbox on the 6m Obsession ! It's a good kite for the storm !

Today will be the wave event, and tomorrow will be the last day and the end of the freestyle double elimination.
I'll keep you update with the results. I will go FULL POWER !!! (or maybe OVER POWER ;).

Have a good day !
Seb

official press release PKRA:

DAY 3
"Sebastiien Garat (RRD, FRA) decided to have a little extra fun today by testing out the Shadow Box in the extreme wind conditions here in El Medano, Tenerife. Garat tested the Shadow Box in Fuerteventura, Spain last week and managed to reach a height of 45.1 feet. Garat was more determined than ever to beat his current world record jump. He succeeded by reaching 52 feet making it the highest jump recorded on the Shadow Box to date on a PKRA World Tour Competition.

DAY 2
Kiteboarding World Tour 2010 TenerifeAug-12-2010
Freestyle single eliminations wrap up the second day of competition

The wind forecast today predicted a change in direction and speeds ranging anywhere from 30-40 knots. Shortly after 2:00pm the assumption was correct, the wind began to shift and the speed jumped from 10 to 20 knots within 30 minutes.

Riders abandoned their lunch in order to start pumping up their kites and preparing for an intense freestyle single elimination competition.

Youri Zoon (Slingshot, NED) had an amazing day defeating the Russian’s Sergey Borisov (Best ,RUS) and Sergey Belmesov (Liquid Force, RUS), as well as Ariel Corniel (Ozone, DOM) leading him straight into the final against Sebastien Garat (RRD, FRA). In the final heat, Zoon had an overall better execution of tricks and kite position, which made for a high risk factor due to the extreme wind conditions. Sebastien Garat (RRD, FRA) eliminated Michele Ratti Morales (Slingshot, ESP), Alberto Rondina (Cabrinha, ITA) as well as Andy Yates (Slingshot, AUS) in the semi final leading him into the final against Youri Zoon (Slingshot, NED). Zoon takes first place in the freestyle single elimination while Garat takes second followed by Yates in third.

FREESTYLE SINGLE ELIMINATION WINNERS

MEN

1. Youri Zoon (NED)

2. Sebastien Garat (RRD, FRA)

3. Andy Yates (AUS)

4. Ariel Corniel (DOM)

Seb won the "Sky Masters" in Fuerte
Hi All.

I hope everything is good on your side.
For me all good. here is a fast report from the last PKRA event in Fuerteventura with some pics.
I had 9th place in Freestyle and I and setted the 1st official World Height Record !!! to 45,1 feets high, riding the Obsession 2011.
I think it's a good promo, after winning the Big Air Board Off in Germany ! The 10,5 is so good for flying away !

Anyway, now I'm already in Tenerife for the next PKRA event and I've got one more good news. I just made it into the Final in Freestyle today.
After defeating Rondina, and Yates in the single elimination, I've been up against Youri Zoon in Final. I had some nice powered tricks but also a few bad crashes !!! and couldn't take the win.
I'm second for the moment, and will try to keep this place and of course try to reach the 1st place !
I'll keep you updated about the results here.

Cheers.
Seb

Johnny @ Cabrinha Race Series July 29

I raced in the Cabrinha race series last night in San Francisco and won the night. I rode my 9m Addiction which proved to be the best kite on the course!

It was a great evening, blowing about 25 kts at the start of the first race. The boat end of the line was favored but most people chose to start on port at the pin so they could head out toward the favorable current. I decided to be conservative and start at the boat, which proved to be the right move. I won the boat end, led to the middle of the course at tacked on top of the fleet toward layline. After rounding the weather mark in first I stuck the nose in and cartwheeled, letting 2 or 3 guys catch me. From there I battled hard to regain my lead by the leeward mark and hold on to it for the win.
The second race was a similar story. I was in 4th at the weather mark, but gained big on the downwind and rounded in the lead just ahead of Chip Wasson and Geoff Headington. They had a pretty bad tangle right behind me and I got a comfortable lead to the finish.
The last race was a little more interesting. I stuck to the boat end start which had worked well the last two races, but this time Stefaans and Kevin port tacked the fleet. Stefaans rounded in first, far ahead of Kevin and I who rounded overlapped. I split with both of them on the downwind and pushed as hard as I could in the waist high chop. I again caught up a lot, rounding the leeward mark right behind Stefaans. We had a battle to the finish and I got him by no more than a board length at the line. Three 1st's for the night!

Here is a link to the Waterhound article about the racing and a few pictures. http://www.waterhound.com/cabrinha-kiteboard-racing-july-29th-to-win-you-must-be-upright.html

The 2010 PWA Sotavento, Fuerteventura Grand Slam – Day Five

Dunkerbeck may have stolen final race glory, but it was Albeau who
claimed his fifth consecutive crown in the 25th Anniversary
Fuerteventura World Cup today.

The fifth and final day of slalom competition started off in a very
similar fashion to day four, with the breeze teasing the competitors
throughout the morning resulting in racing being on hold for much of
the day.

As temperatures soared to new levels so did the tension between the
competitors. And, as the day progressed it became apparent that only
one race would be completed, leaving the 2009 world champion, Antoine
Albeau fighting for the crown with the 2009 world rankings runner up,
Finian Maynard (RRD, Gaastra).

By mid afternoon the wind began to build, and race director, Juan
Antonio Aragon made the call to start race ten. All eyes were on
Albeau and Maynard to see if they'd progress through their early
heats. And, as expected, there was never a moment when either looked
likely to fail, with both sailors going through to the finals with ease.

At this point, Maynard had to pull something special out of the bag.
He somehow had to win the final race and ensure Albeau was almost last
– a tough maneuver to pull off in anyone's book! Maynard pushed hard
right at the start, but milliseconds later the horn went again,
signaling a recall for the final eight. Unfortunately for Maynard he'd
put himself out of the race, and inadvertently handed the crown to
Albeau on a plate.

Results After Ten Races

1st Antoine Albeau

2nd Finian Maynard (RRD, Gaastra)

3rd Bjorn Dunkerbeck

Overall Rankings After Three Events

1st Antoine Albeau

2nd Bjorn Dunkerbeck

3rd Micah Buzianis

4th Finian Maynard (RRD, Gaastra)

5th Cyril Moussilmani
